Frequently asked Questions

Absolutely. Many times, I will answer the phone call myself. I know when you call me, it’s because you, or a loved one, are right in the middle of an overwhelming situation. Contacting an experienced and empathetic legal professional to fully and simply explain everything and answer all of your questions is necessary to not only allow me to provide you with the best defense, but also to provide you with peace of mind and hope after a traumatic event such as being arrested and taken away to jail.

Definitely. At Cardenas Witt Law, all of our cases are virtual, which means that information about your case is just a click away at all times. Guilty or innocent, my goal is to arrive at the best possible outcome for your case, while informing and guiding you through all of your options along the way. In many cases, that means seeking dismissal of all charges and in other cases that means reducing the severity and length of probation terms or reducing the number of years, months, or days in jail.

Criminal law is criminal law, no matter which side you’re on. To be a strong prosecutor, a lawyer must immerse himself in all aspects of criminal law: procedure, case law, statutes, the weaknesses of their cases, and everyday life in court. Having worked as a Travis County prosecutor for nearly a decade, I know prosecutors and what they will continue to see from you and what will and will not work in any type of case. One of my best weapons in your defense will be my inside knowledge of how the prosecution thinks and how things are done on the other side. That is invaluable knowledge.

Having tried over 50 cases before a jury as lead counsel, I am always ready to help you have your day in court. I have a lot of experience and knowledge about the ins and outs of jury trials, including jury selection, cross-examination, and powerful arguments. I’ll give you the loud voice you’ve wanted to use since the day you were arrested.

Do not look any further. I have worked on all types of drunk driving offenses ranging from Class C “Driving Under the Influence of a Minor” to 1st Degree Felony “Intoxication Manslaughter”. My passion lies in helping you navigate this criminal situation even though you are NOT a criminal! I am passionate about delving into the complexities and different legal strategies in DWI cases.

You have come to the right place. At Cardenas Witt Law, every employee is fluent in English and Spanish and is very familiar with and absolutely loves the Hispanic community and culture. We will make sure that he fully and thoroughly understands every document that is served on him or filed with the Court on his behalf. We make sure that all communications and instructions from our clients are written in Spanish (or English, if you prefer).

I was born in Mexico DF and grew up mainly along the Texas-Mexico border. Although I grew up on the American side in Laredo, Texas, I felt like I was in my native Mexico most of the time. Everyone in my house spoke Spanish and Spanish was the predominant language in the community. Mexican traditions and culture are a big part of who I am as a person and as a lawyer.
